Ohio Oilheat Tank Safety

Heating oil gives homeowners control of their comfort by having an oil tank on their property in which to store the fuel.

Modern oil storage tanks are made from corrosion-resistant materials such as fiberglass and protected steel. Properly installed and maintained, these oil tanks will last for decades.

Oilheat storage tanks are extremely safe because:

• They are designed with corrosion-resistant materials for long life and safety.
• Underground tanks are installed using new, innovative technologies.

Historically, the standard tank thickness for aboveground tanks was 1/14th of an inch. For today's tanks that thickness has been increased by 17% and standard tanks are now 1/12th of an inch thick.
