Oilheat — Not Just for Heating

An air conditioner, generator or stove powered by Oilheat? Of course!

The National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA) and Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) conduct on-going programs of research and development related to the efficient use of Oilheat in boilers, furnaces, direct-fired chillers, and integrated power generation equipment. The goal of these technological advancements is to improve efficiency, reduce air pollutant emissions and increase reliability. In fact, according to Brookhaven National Laboratory, current usage of the highly efficient oil combustion technologies developed through these programs has already resulted in more than $12 billion in accumulated consumer energy savings.

The U.S. military forces also benefit from oil combustion research. Oil is a safe and portable choice for military vehicles, cooking, mobile facility heating, cooling technology and portable power generation systems.

On the civilian front, NORA, through its Research Institute, is working on the conversion of an "oil pak" (an outside heating unit combined with air conditioning) to a combination heat pump. This promising heat pump "hybrid” technology could provide Oilheat with additional entry to the new home market.

Oilheat can also be used in radiant heating systems, for space conditioning, floor warming or snow melting applications. You can even heat your pool or spa with Oilheat!
